KEEPING IT CLEAN

Choosing the right car to modify can be a daunt-full task. But when you fall in love with a cars’ lines and overall shape, then you know that you just need to have one. The owner of this clean VL Commodore comes with a background of owning a variety of cars in the way of a Mazda Astina, Lexus IS200 and also a R32 Nissan Skyline GTS-T. That is a pretty diverse mix of cars by anyone’s standards.

With a 355 stroker kit, SRP forged pistons, Harrop crankshaft, ported heads, a custom hydraulic cam and stainless valves you know this car means business. Pacemaker headers, a 3 inch exhaust all of the way through and a twin throttle manifold make some serious noise and a VS Commodore GTS Senator computer is re-tuned to provide the necessary fuel mixtures. In the end, all of this work is good for a dyno proven 335 rear wheel horsepower and this is only set to increase when the plans for a supercharger are finally put into place. The combination is finished off with a Borg Wagner 6 speed gearbox, Exedy heavy duty clutch, VL Calais Turbo driveshafts and HSV brakes all around.

The exterior only has the addition of a Calais bodykit, but a HSV interior has made its way inside the cabin and a custom parcel shelf has been made to house the speakers. Keeping the theme going, the car now has more modern HSV 19inch wheels and the body is lowered using King Springs and Monroe shock absorbers. The sway bars have been upgraded with Kmac items.

The stereo is looked after by a JVC headunit which works in conjunction with Alpine 6 inch splits in the front and Alpine 3 ways in the rear with bass coming from twin 12 inch Alpine subwoofers and is all powered by twin Alpine amplifiers.

All in all, this car has been meticulously cared for and shows little sign of aging quickly and we like it just for how clean and well thought out the whole car appears.

The owner would like to thank Allports for the continuous help and support with the engine build, L.W Parry for the machining of the engine and his parents for putting up with the long nights in the garage.
