Held between the 26th of February and the 1st of March 2009, the 17th installation of the Powercruise event proved to be yet another sell out event. Every year this show proves to grow in numbers from entrants to spectators. It is a refreshing site to see that off-street drag events are mixed up with drifting, the show and shine and the expected hot laps around the track. The days didn’t all end well for some people, with a few minor accidents occurring while people cruised along during the hot laps, but unfortunately for some, a few major accidents occurred during the drifting and the drag events. But all were in good spirits during the 4 day event which in the end what the show is all about. The burnout competition proved popular as always and had some of the best smoke to cover the Sydney skyline in a while. It was good to see that a variety of tough cars mixed it up on the tarmac including old school classics, new hi-tech cars and the random 4wd. The event was eventually won by a very deserving orange Holden ute and owner Rob Godfrey.
