SYDNEY - (02) 9757 1218
Located within Sydney’s western suburbs at Unit 5/ 64 Hassall Street, Wetherill Park is one of the most recognised performance workshops to cater for the modified industry. Owned by Chris Kypriotis, Incar Racing has been in business for 6 years with Chris’ experience in highly modified vehicles beginning well over 14 years.
Incar Racing has evolved to take on all forms of work that is needed to take a street driven car into a drag strip weapon and turn a show car into a highly feared opponent on the dyno. Chris and his team have built engines for some of Sydney’s best known independent drag and show cars. As seen in the below picture, a Nissan Skyline fitted with an RB25DET and garret GT 35/40 turbo produced over 350kw at the rear wheels. Another of Sydney’s competitors in the Autosalon series, was an S15 Nissan 200sx which produced 345kw at the rear wheels with a 50hp shot of nitrous and won the title for most power in its category.
Incar Racing specialises in: All types of performance upgrades and maintenance services, Engine rebuilds, Dyno tuning, Nitrous installations, ECU installations, and Machining.
While attending the workshop for this review, we noticed 3 particular cars which would frighten all but the quickest cars on the road. The first was a midnight black widebody S15 Nissan 200sx with over 374kw at the rear wheels on its last tune without Nitrous. (Please view the Feature Article for a more comprehensive look at this car). Incar Racing had completed all of the work including the engine rebuild, turbo selection, oil cooler and remote oil filter, ECU fitment and tuning. Chris assures us that over 400kw at the rear wheels would not be out of the question prior to the nitrous install.
Secondly was a 1990 Toyota Corolla with a last tune of 240kw at the wheels courtesy of a rebuilt engine and GT 30/67 Turbo. With reliability being the necessity for this car, every chance to ensure that the power would last was taken.
Finally a 1977 Holden Torana was parked outside awaiting some mild work to get the tune correct again. The work on this cars engine was solely the work of Incar Racing and allowed this car to run a 10.8 second pass down the quarter mile without the use of nitrous. The 308 cubic inch engine is ported and polished, has the necessary pistons, rods and camshafts upgraded, and is awaiting a 125hp nitrous hit to get the car as fast as possible to the finish line.
Seeing as most performance shops tend to cater towards a select type of engine or speciality, it is refreshing to see a workshop able to cater for anyone who wishes to drive past and get a quote. With a respectable history and proven record of quality workmanship, Incar Racing seems to be the perfect place to start when inquiring about the possibilities that you could do to your car.
